We’ve got our eyes set on you.
Carter is with my mom. This is nice. I guess. I miss him as soon as he leaves and as much as he drives me into the ground with his shrieking, fussing and covert biting maneuvers, he is still my man. I hope he is okay, I mean, I know he is okay, but you know what I mean. I tried to check on him, thinking he was napping. Heart skipped a beat when I didn’t see his tiny frame tossed amongst his blankets. Damn, when will I get over that.
I wonder if this is a mutual disconnect. Does he, pulling himself high enough to see over his crib at my mother’s anticipate me bursting into the room to save him? Does his tiny ticker sputter when he notices it is not me, but in fact one of his eager grandparents? If only I could ask him. God, I have so many questions that he doesn’t have the cognitive ability, or motor function, to answer. Mysteries gonna mystify.
On the plus side, the Mrs. and I headed to Scramble to debate the merit of the other’s breakfast burrito and criticize the merit of professional bowlers, an all-female wait staff and the proper amount of icing on a cinnamon roll.
Wow, just saw Kim Jong Il is dead. What are the citizens’ reactions? Must know.
Last day of the semester is tomorrow. Big soccer tourney coming up next week. Speaking of soccer, took a few shots with my ligament-damaged ankle and not a huge amount of swelling or discomfort. I’m going to train this week and see what happens.
The year end lists of the greatest albums are out, which means I will be cranking new, or under appreciated, tunes for a while. Becuase of this, I am retiring many albums; putting them on a six month hold so I don’t permanently render them unlistenable. The list is as follows;
Nada Surf – Let Go
Band of Horses – Cease to Begin
Slick Rick – The Great Adventures of…
Best Coast – Crazy for You
Erik B. and Rakim – Paid in Full
Lupe Fiasco – The Cool
Deftones – Diamond Eyes
Ryan Adams – Heartbreaker
Buddy Guy – Damn Right, I’ve Got the Blues
